Pros: Prints clearly, quickly, and has wonderful printing options
Cons: Doesn't warn you before toner runs out
I really enjoy this laser printer. It has many functions which are perfect for my use -- I draft and revise documents several times before finalization, and I LOVE that you can print multiple pages on one piece of paper. You can also set it for a "toner save mode" and the quality isn't reduced very much at all!
One word regarding the toner -- as with most laser printers, the toner cartridge provided with the machine was far from full. Though the printer is supposed to warn you before the toner runs out, it didn't for me. I don't know if it was because it was the cartridge which came with the machine, or if it is just a malfunction. However, that is the one and only complaint I have -- I love this printer.

Head: Solid small office printer that does the job

Strengths: Paper handling, manual bypass tray, small size, fast printing, cheap, good looks!
Weaknesses: Construction does not feel very sturdy, no bundled cables.
Summary: Ever since purchasing a Brother fax machine last year at work, I have been replacing our aging HP products with Brother's, and loving them. Not only are they cheap to buy, they are dependable and works like a charm. The 5240 is small enough to fit on your desk, and quiet enough not to disturb your co-workers. I have yet to have a paper jam in one of these under heavy use! I have 3 of these in my office now, and plan to buy more to swap out more Hips when the time comes.
