Be prepared to spend TONS of $$$ on INK

Pros: It's a Multi function Center-but you spend lots of $$ on INK
Cons: Ink consumption- have to change all 4 cartridges when one goes out
Thought this multi function brother product would be terrific.. It had Everything I needed..HAHAHAH But I must of really misread the box when purchasing.. I didn't see the picture label that had a Tree with money hanging off of it.. Cause that is what is what you will need to keep this printer going.. Money from the money tree. You have to replace ALL.. that's right I said ALL the ink cartridges total of 4, when ever any of them go out. So basically, If all the others are 3/4 to 1/2 way filled you still have to get them changed. We tried to replace to one that was empty but it kept saying we had to replace them all. There is a misreading from the Brother machine on the Ink levels.
So we just spent $70 on ink. Which is tough when the other cartridges aren't even empty. Also, this product makes tons of noise at all odd hours of the day. The first time I heard it, It scared me a bit. So be prepared for that.

Review 2 AVOID AT ALL COSTS! This is a DEFECTIVE UNIT and Brother Knows It.
by whistleman , Sep 28 '06
Pros: it sucks
Cons: Brother ripped me off for $120.Never Brother, never again.
I am very enraged right now. A couple of years ago, I spent $120 on a Brother MFC 3220C printer/fax. The damn thing has NEVER worked. The first one I had wasn't printing right due to a defective roller.
That's right - Brother sold me a DEFECTIVE unit, KNOWINGLY. How do I know? I called their customer service several times, and finally a manager called me back and told me he knew the roller was defective. After I went ballistic on them, they allowed me to send back the printer on some kind of "warranty exchange program" that they NEVER let the public know about.
So I get the new printer (which actually was a remanufactured printer), and not much has changed. Paper jams galore. Terrible print quality. And every damn time I went to print something, guess what? The damn machine would clean the heads - wasting ink! You can't control the cleaning of the heads - it is automatic. Even when the damn machine is OFF, it will occasionally turn on to clean the heads. So I have to pay for new cartridges every 2 months at $50/pop.
About the ink. Brother has set it so that if just one ink cartridge is low, you have to go out and buy all the inks at once. This means that if you never use color, and the black goes out - you still have to purchase all four cartridges. Furthermore, it won't allow you do to ANYTHING - even fax - until you get new ink.
It's now inoperable. The paper keeps feeding not straight but off to the side; creating paper jams. The constant cleaning takes up all my time and wastes more ink than actual printing. And the print quality is so low it's not worth it. Basically I have to haul the dam thing to the dumpster and chuck it.
I called Brother customer service and of course, there's nothing they can do. They sell me 2 DEFECTIVE products KNOWINGLY, then give me the scroogie.
My advice: NEVER buy a BROTHER printer. They don't stand by their products. It's a total waste of money.
