I have had the Canon PIXMA cx6000 for about a year now and I love it. I enjoy all of the features including the automatic 2 sided printing. This process is a little slow but it is well worth it. I mainly use this feature for printing web pages which are just rough drafts anyway. I also enjoy the 2 paper trays. I would have never thought that this would be a feature on a printer that had a price less than $100. I am able to keep my photo paper in the bottom tray to protect it from sunlight and dust, while my regular letter size paper is stored in the top paper tray. It saves a lot of time. All you have to do to switch trays is push a little button on the printer.
I love the photo quality of this printer. The flesh tones are accurate and the colors are bright and vivid. I printed a picture and the people I showed it to thought that it was a 35mm print! That's how good the quality is. The only thing is the printer is very particular about the photo paper you use. I have tried many types of photo papers and the best kind to use is Canon (of course)
For a 4"x6" photo it takes roughly 50 seconds to print. This for me is fast enough. The printer also prints 22ppm in black and 15ppm in color. The cx6000 is faster than my HP LaserJet!
The 4 individual ink cartridges are a money saver as well. I have owned HP printers for a long time with 2 ink cartridges. They have become expensive, that is the main reason I switched to Canon. To save even more money, you can purchase remanufactured cartridges which cost about $4.
As for the design of this printer, it is pretty simple with three buttons that make up the control panel. The color of this printer is sort of dull and boring and the shape is somewhat cumbersome looking like a breadbox. However, the extensive list of features makes up for the design.
I have looked at other printers in the sub $100 price range and nothing compares to the features that the Canon PIXMA cx6000 has.
