I bought this to replace an Epson Stylus C86, which ceased to deliver adequate color images after a year's use (using only Epson cartridges) and did not provide timely or adequate customer service when requested. This Canon (it's my first Canon product ever) is outstanding -- outstanding value & outstanding image quality.

I bought this printer from CompUSA 10/15/07. I installed it on my iMac and it worked fine. When I changed operating system to Leopard I had to re-install the printer software but the printer still worked well both as a photo printer and a text printer. Then about 11/20/07 the black ink smeared whenever a heavy line or bold type was printed. I performed all the maintenance procedures given in the Pixma iP3500 manual. Test prints of color all looked fine but the black ink test prints had small about of smearing, but when I printed real document the black in smeared. At the time of purchase I bought a CompUSA Printer Express Exchange Replacement Plan and they are sending me a new printer in about two weeks. Not too express. I hope the new one will work longer than this one.
