I have been through several types of printers, both laser & injet over the past several years and there is no comparison. The set up was so easy. The speed and color clarity was impressive. I love it! I have a home based business and space is a factor, as always. But, just because I'm small doesn't mean I have to put up with slow or inferior quality. It's important to me to get my job done quickly and when I have to wait for my printer to print out what I need, it's agrivating to me. All I can say is it's wonderful.

I have read the other reviews about this product and yes it is a bit bulky and it is noisy. But what none of them say is the noise is only when it powers up. When it finishes, it quiets down to a whisper and then nothing until you wake it up to work. I think it just sounds louder when your in close proximity to it and in close quarters. The cost of toner is rather scarey, but I constantly am buying inkjet cartridges and know that I've spent that and more over the last several years. And consider that you get 8000 pages from each of the toner cartridges.

Price, ease of installation and time from out of the box to first print is extremely fast. The duplexer popped right in the first try, as did the memory upgade. The print quality is remarkable. Literally remarkable. I have people commenting on the quality of the printed items including the art department at our print publication offices as well as numerous clients.

The noise is almost too much, the smell that emanates from the machine is bad/strong and it heats up quite quickly. The (additional cost) duplexer is iffy quality wise. After a run of about 300 duplex pages with approximately 30% coverage, the rollers get coated in toner and you lose a good number of prints due to toner deposits that don't belong. This has happened on two different units.

If you're new to laser printers, the initial cartridge cost is a bit shocking but as soon as you go to a print shop and they charge you a buck for a two sided color copy when you can print your own for a fraction of the cost, that falls into perspective very easily. As others have mentioned, it's often a deal to purchase an entirely new unit than replace a full set of cartridges.. I upgraded the memory, but there were no noticable changes in the print speed or quality.
