Excellent Home Workhorse, December 26, 2005
By J. Johnson "Home Cook" (Nashville, TN USA)
I've had this printer several months and printed hundreds of pages for training manuals and probably hundreds of others copying web page content and scanned articles, including some graphics and photos. My results for graphics are apparently better than others have experienced, but I'm not expecting excellent results from a laser printer of this type. I use a Canon 8500 for photos and very high quality stuff. Once it starts up (and it does indeed take a half minute or so), it cranks the pages very quickly. I find the print quality excellent, even in the "toner save" mode which I almost always use. With much lower than average per page costs to print, I'm glad I made this purchase decision!

Review 2"Great product, fast & inexpensive"
January 12, 2005
Pros:
I had an HP 6P for 10 years and needed to replace it. I checked out all the reviews and while I was biased towards HP, I decided to be open-minded. A friend had had their Samsung laser printer for 3 years and it worked great, so I included Samsung in with HP and Brother in the evaluation. I guess I ran out of energy to look at Lexmark. Looking at consumer reports, and consumer/editor reviews at CNET, I decided to go with the ML-2250. It's lightening quick compared to my old HP and it even sounds high tech when printing. It can be configured in my home office for a wireless network, though I didn't want to spend the money - or effort - upfront to have it be wireless. It comes with a parallel port, so I didn't need to buy a USB cable and sets up in 5 minutes. Graphics and letters are great. There is a toner saver button right on top, which I'll always have pressed on as most copies are just to be filed anyway...nice feature. Seeing that Samsung is a growing leader in laser, I think they are the way to go. HP has so many different models and even going through their website, the choices get pricey very quickly. I got the Samsung at Upgrade Source within 7 days with tax and shipping included @ $199. How can you beat that? The speed has got to be 21 ppm at up to 1200x1200 dpm. What else can you ask for. It's in a glossy white case, which should be easier to clean than the 'ol HP dull w/dust concept.
Cons:
It is a little loud on warm-up, but then it quiets down nicely. The warm-up time can be a few seconds for the first copy, but who really cares? After the first copy, the printer just nails them one after another. I see no faults in this printer and would highly recommend it. Much better than the options you find at Office Max, Best Buy, etc. (even from Samsung).
